European Commission - LIFE projects

ECOTEC-STC is a demonstration project funded by the European commission within the Life demonstration projects. The main goal is to demonstrate a 100% non-toxic hull protection system contributing to zero emissions to the aquatic environment and a cut back on the usage of heavy fuels.

With the help of 3rd party measurements, data will be gathered concerning the performance of these vessels to create a Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) of different kinds of vessels with different kinds of operations. This LCA will handle both economical and the ecological aspects of the hull protection system.

Independent tests confirm Ecospeed to be 100% environmentally safe

Over the last year stringent tests were carried out by Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) in close cooperation with the port authorities of Antwerp and Environmental Resources Management Belgium n.v. (ERM) to provide scientific data to authenticate the non-toxicity of the Ecospeed hull performance technology.

Layman's Report

On March 31, 2010, the EU Life Project ECOTEC-STC was concluded. Over a 3-year period the objective of this project was to evaluate the environmental and economical benefits of Ecospeed as a biocide-free durable hull protection and antifouling system.

Baltic Swan

In January 2010 this container vessel came into drydock in Rotterdam after sailing with Ecospeed through two Baltic winters. The ship did not need a full repaint and required only a few touch ups to bring her back in original condition.

Karin

Interscan had M/V Karin coated with Ecospeed, the long lasting durable hull protection system that provides protection against corrosion and fouling.
